{"id":975,"date":"2005-06-03T12:30:00","date_gmt":"2005-06-03T19:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bibik.org\/blog\/?p=975"},"modified":"2005-06-03T12:30:00","modified_gmt":"2005-06-03T19:30:00","slug":"975","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bibik.org\/index.php\/2005\/06\/03\/975\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I may have mentioned this before, but I picked up two new lenses for my pending trip to Ireland:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li>Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f\/4L USM Autofocus<\/li>\n<li>Tokina Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24mm f\/4 AT-X 124AF Pro DX Autofocus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I decided today, the day before I leave, to do some focus testing. Great timing, since I can&#8217;t do anything if the lenses turn out to be miscalibrated! Here are the results:<\/p>\n<p><b>Tokina @ 12mm<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/gallery\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_1\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/albums\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_1.thumb.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Result:  Moderate back focus.  My untrained eye shows that the rear 6mm mark is truly in focus.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tokina @ 24mm<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/gallery\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/albums\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_2.thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Result:  Very slight front focus.  While the entire area in focus is actually a bit soft, the near 20mm is in better focus than the far 20mm.<\/p>\n<p><b>Canon @ 70mm<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/gallery\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_4\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/albums\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_4.thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Result:  Focus seems to be dead on.<\/p>\n<p><b>Canon @ 200mm<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/gallery\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_5\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mbibik.dyndns.org\/albums\/Focus-Test-06-03-2005\/Focus_Test_06_03_2005_5.thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Result:  Moderate back focus.
